This salon is a social enterprise, we help women supplement their income by learning a new skill and we give a percentage of each service to a scholarship dedicated to low income students.

Hi, I’m Briana.

I first fell in love with locs in 2015 when I began my Sisterlocks journey. I enjoyed the flexibility it gave me to live my life on my own terms. They made me feel confident and sophisticated like I had a new super power. It was a feeling I had to pass on to others, so in 2017 I began my career as a certified Sisterlocks™ consultant and Holistic Loctician based in the DMV area. In 2018, I won the Miss Locs Pageant.

Lerato, pronounced Leh-Rah-Toe is a term I learned while studying in South Africa. It comes from the Xhosa tribe and it means love. I believe that in order to build a better community, we must all learn to love ourselves first and then others.

Love for people and community is what motivated Briana to create Lerato Beauty. This is intended to be a safe space for all women from the African diaspora. We are on a mission to build a community of women of color who truly love themselves from the root.
